Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is celebrated in accordance with the lunar Chinese calendar .The celebration of the Chinese New Year begins with the New Moon and concludes with the full moon after a period of 15 days . The celebration of Chinese New Year is centered around the family and religion . Family plays a pivotal role in the celebration of the Chinese New Year . The family members pay homage to the ancestors of the family who passed away . The Chinese believe that the the ancestors of the family played a significant role in ushering prosperity and bliss to the family . The celebration highlights the unity of the family and further strengthens the bond of love between various members of the family . The Chinese people start preparing for the New Year by cleaning their houses



. They also write small poems wishing prosperity to all on red paper which is called Spring Couplet . Spring Couplets are used to decorate their house. The Chinese believe that God dwells in their kitchen also . The kitchen God is revered by the Chinese and they bid adieu to the God of kitchen by giving Him a diner . The Chinese believe that kitchen God will go to heaven and praise the family . The family tries hard to please Him which will usher good fortune for the family. The all encompassing spirit of blissful celebration is the essence of Chinese New Year. The Chinese believe that kitchen God will come again in the new year.



The children are given gifts in the form of money which is the symbolic way of wishing good luck . The entire country organizes events galore to celebrate Chinese New Year . Dance and theater shows are conducted in China. The people exchange good wishes to each other. The spirit of mirth and celebration is conspicuous during Chinese New Year . The relatives and friends exchange gifts with each other . Chinese Tea , fruits are some of the gifts given during Chinese New Year .

The Chinese believe in living in peace and harmony with each other and take new year resolution to maintain it throughout the year . Sharp instruments are not used in the first day of the new year to prevent any injury . A plethora of mouth watering Chinese delicacies are prepared during Chinese New Year. The family members have diner in memory of the ancestors of the family . The spirit of celebration continues for 7 days .The whole nation is engrossed in the ecstatic celebration .
