Laba Festival(Rice Porridge) Festival

In China, the month of December by lunar calendar is named as the La month, so the 8th of December is celebrated as the Laba Festival( Rice Porridge) Festival. Laba Festival( Rice Porridge) Festival is a conventional festival of China that is considered as the introduce of the following Spring Festival. In Chinese language, Laba referred to the 'gold eighth' which denotes the grand conventional beginning of the celebrations of Chinese New Year which is the eighth day of the last lunar month in Chinese lunar calender.



On the day of Laba Festival(Rice Porridge) Festival, a exceptional hot rice porridge, known as Laba Zhou, is eaten up in every family of China. The hot rice porridge includes glutinous rice, millet, red beans, peas, Chinese sorghum and some other special components like chestnut meat, dried dates, almond, walnut meat, dried lotus seeds, peanut and many more ingredients. On the previous night of the Laba Festival, all the Chinese people begin to grizzle the porridge and make dishes with it.



The flavor of the porridge varies from different places to places as in the Northern side the porridge is considered as a dessert with added sugar but in the Southern part it is prepared with the salt and seasonal vegetables. Moreover, the Rice Porridge or Laba Festival is the most fabled festival in China as all the local people and tourists from round the world enjoy this festival every year.
