Chung Yeung Festival

Also popular as the Autumn Remembrance, the Chung Yeung Festival is very alike to the Ching Ming festival held in the spring time. Chung Yeung Festival is celebrated on the ninth day of the ninth month which is the month of October. During the celebration of the Chung Yeung Festival, all the Chinese families move to the graves of their antecedents to do purifying rituals and to pay their respects as well as offerings. In this time, the Chinese also share foods with each other specially delicious Chinese cakes and ko. Some people of China believe that those who eat Chinese cakes will be boosted to the top. The day of Chung Yeung Festival is also a day for hiking up. Moreover, the Chung Yeung Festival of China remembers the Han Dynasty which was in BC 202-AD 220.

According to legend, it has got to know how a famous soothsayer proposed Woon King that the king should take his family to a comparatively high place for the total ninth days of the ninth moon in the Chinese lunar calender.

When the Woon family returned, the family found all surviving things in their village had been massacred. Nowadays, several families of Hong Kong go for a picnic on the celebration of Chung Yeung Festival and all the people of China enjoy the day with lots of happiness and togetherness.
