Birthday of Tin Hau

Tin Hau is the Goddess of sea and this day is an auspicious event for the people who frequent the sea to eke out their living . The fishermen specially prays to safeguard their life and usher prosperity to them . The temples of Tin Hau brim with a plethora of devotees. Elaborate rituals are conducted in the temples . The boats of the fishermen are decorated with myriad hues and shades of vibrant flags . The fishermen extol her for blessing them and pray to Goddess Tin Hau to continuously shower Her blessing on them. The riot of colors exhibited by the moving boats on the sea is a visual delight . The boats are packed with items which are offered to Goddess Tin Huan. The festival is celebrated in accordance with the lunar calendar .


History of Tin Huan :
The festival owes its origin to as early as 906 AD when Goddess Tin Huan had the power to predict the weather . She could foretell the impending storm or cyclone and saved the precious life of many fishermen and voyagers .



Celebration of Birthday of Tin Hau:
The fishermen and the seafarers often take out processions with colorful flags to seek the blessing of Goddess Tin Huan . The temple of Tin Hau are thronged by the devotees who worship Her and seek Her divine Blessing . The seafarers are instilled with a deep rooted belief that the omnipotent , omniscient and omnipresent Goddess Tin Huan will protect their lives and enable them to eke out their living. The implicit faith in Goddess Tin Huan is the driving force for the fishermen who overcome the devastating blow of nature to eke out their living . They believe that goddess Tian Huan is solely responsible for preventing mother nature from wreaking a havoc on their livelihood .
