China witnesses 1700 festivals annually, out of which more than 50 % of the festivals are ethnic minority festivals. A single incident or legend is interpreted in a variety of ways by the different ethnic communities.
These festivals may have a religious significance or even a recreational significance, like the Nadam Fair of Mongolia. The checkered history of China has given rise to so many ethnicities and their respective communities.
