Rivers of China



China is blessed with abundant rivers and lakes. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is mainly the source of all the sprawling rivers prevailing in different niches of China. Prevalence of so many rives all around the nation has made her prosper in the water-power resources. The rivers of China can be widely categorized into two sections: interior and exterior systems.



Rivers of China such as Heilong, Yangtze, Haihe, Pearl, Yellow, Liaohe and Huaihe, flowing toward the eastern hemisphere of the country, fall under the exterior system for emptying into the ocean. The exterior rivers account for almost 64 percent of China’s entire land area. The interior rivers basically merge with either the inland lakes or salt marshes or get soaked in the deserts. 36 percent of the country’s land area is comprised by these interior rivers of China.



The Yangtze River, stretching for 6,300 kms, is the longest river of China and passes through mountains and valleys. For having the navigation benefit, warm and humid climatic conditions this river of China has been in notice.

The Yellow River, stretching for 5,464 kms, is the second longest river of China. Yellow River id one of the most popular rivers of China for plenty of mineral deposits and pasturelands.
