Geography of China



China has been blessed with diversified geographical features and in noted world wide for them. The geography of China is characterized by mountains, rivers, plateaus, volcanoes, desert landscapes and so forth. For encompassing a wide stretch of land, geography of China varied from one hemisphere to another.

The western part of China mainly comprises mountain ranges and plateaus. While moving towards the eastern zone, the features change mainly into lower lands. The noted rives such as Huang He, Yangtze and Amur, all move from the west to the eastern zone of China. However, handful of rives namely, Mekong River, Brahmaputra and Pearl River flow towards the southern part of the nation.



The eastern part of china is characterized by low mountain ranges and various hills; where as the central China is dominated by the deltas of Yangtze and Huang He Rivers. Western hemisphere of China is full of alluvial plains and the southern portion has a vast stretch of calcareous tableland. The north-western part of China exhibits arid desert landscapes namely the Gobi Desert and Takla-Makan.



Most of the high peaked mountains of China are placed in the southwestern hemisphere. This typical geography of China gives way to diversified climatic conditions, varying from one part of the nation to another.
